Beginning Hungarian Research


Summary:

This class is designed for those who are beginning to do research for a Hungarian ancestor. This class will cover what resources are found online, the need-to-know historical information, important words and phrases for the Hungarian genealogist. This presentation includes a case study of how the presenter was able to trace a Hungarian ancestor with little information all the way to her native village in southern Hungary using a variety of sources.

Learning Objectives:

1.      Participants will learn which genealogy resources are available online for Hungarian research domestically and abroad

2.      Participants will learn historical background information to help identify records of ancestors

3.      Participants will learn some genealogically relevant Hungarian words to assist in document translation
